The short version
Complete matches to earn Perk Points, spend them on card rolls, then build and equip a Perk Deck for your Civilian. Cards are randomized during matches: equipping a deck does not guarantee every card's effect each game. Perk Points can also fund temporary card upgrades. XP levels and challenges form separate paths to character and equipment rewards.

XP comes from multiplayer matches and the single-player story. The four tracks overlap, but they do not measure the same activity: Profile Level collects overall progress while the other tracks reward investment in a role, character, or weapon.

Passive, Progressive, and story challenges
Passive Challenges track broad Killer and Civilian actions automatically, regardless of the selected character.
Progressive Challenges form ordered chains tied to Civilian characters, Michael skins, or weapon types.
Single-player Challenges add optional goals to each of the six story chapters and award alternate outfits and unique cosmetics.

How Civilian perk card decks work
Finish matches to collect Perk Points.
Spend points to roll cards for your collection. A more expensive roll improves the chance of higher rarity; it does not promise a specific card.
Build a deck from your collection and equip it in a Civilian loadout.
During play, adapt to the randomized cards rather than relying on every card in the deck being active.

Prestige and major unlocks
Players can Prestige after reaching the maximum level in a progression category. The system is designed as a longer-term reward track, but the official material does not state the level cap, reset rules, or every Prestige reward.

How do you get Perk Cards?
Completing matches supplies Perk Points, which you can spend to roll for Perk Cards. Arrange those cards into customizable Perk Decks equipped to Civilian loadouts.
Does equipping a deck activate every card each match?
No. The system includes randomized in-match cards, so a deck is not a guarantee of every effect each game.
Are Perk Point card upgrades permanent?
No. These upgrades increase an owned card's level for a limited number of matches. Check the displayed duration before spending.
Can you Prestige?
