Halloween: The Game release date at a glance
There are three dates to keep separate. Digital Deluxe owners receive an early-access window on September 4, the general digital launch follows on September 8, and boxed editions are scheduled for October 6. Treating those dates as one launch day can lead to the wrong purchase or an unnecessary wait.
The September 8 digital date applies to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The official physical announcement names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X only for the October release.

Digital Deluxe early access time
IllFonic's pre-order FAQ gives an exact start: Friday, September 4 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time. Early access is listed as part of the Digital Deluxe pre-order package, alongside its character and cosmetic content.
Store preload timing, server availability, and regional unlock displays can still differ. Check the countdown shown by the store where you bought the game before planning around the first minute of access.
Digital vs. physical release timeline
Digital players can enter Haddonfield almost a month before boxed copies ship. Physical Standard and Limited Collector's Editions are both dated October 6, not September 8. The official FAQ also states that the game is on the disc, although any patch or online requirement must still be checked after release.
If your priority is playing at launch, choose digital. If the poster, lenticular art, figure, or a disc matters more, compare the physical packages and retailer availability before ordering.
What to recheck on launch day
- Whether the Digital Deluxe window opens at the published 9:00 AM PT time across every store.
- The size and requirements of the day-one update.
- Whether crossplay is enabled by default and how friends are invited across stores.
- Whether boxed copies are fully playable from disc before downloading updates.
